Mt Cook School Gala 2016

The second of two gigs in one day – busy busy!

It was a busy old day today – the Love Parade down on the waterfront in the morning, and Mt Cook School Gala in the afternoon.

We sneaked away from the speeches at Out In The Park and made our way up through town to Mt Cook School. This a great annual gig for us. The school is fabulous – right in the heart of the city – and for the last couple of years they have very kindly allowed us to use their magnificent school hall for our CubaDupa mass samba rehearsal. This is our opportunity to say thanks and to give something back to our local community.

It was a beautiful hot sunny day, there was great coffee on tap (and ice cream! And home-made cakes!) and we gathered in the shade under the trees in the playground and waited for our turn to play.

It’s always fun playing for kids and their parents – they’re always up for a bit of dancing, and are enthusiastic about having a go on the big drums afterwards. We did a 20-minute set of all our favourites, we danced and drummed, the audience danced and jiggled around, and a good time was had by all.

We’d love to add some photos and/or video to this review, so if you have any, please get in touch with AliG at alison@webweaver.co.nz – thanks!
