Happy Brazil Day!
We were very pleased to be invited to celebrate Brazil Independence Day with the fine folks at El Barrio.
We began with an outdoor performance in Eva Street, in front of El Barrio, which went down well with the passers-by. As it was a bit of a rainy evening we cut that part of our performance a little short, and then headed upstairs to El Barrio, which was absolutely heaving.
No real room for a full Bateria and dancers in there, so we squished ourselves into the corner and got on with entertaining the enthusiastic crowd. We had such a small amount of room, it was a little like “playing as if you’re a T-Rex” with the tiny arms and hands thing going on. Not the best way to really get the best out of your instrument, but the atmosphere more than made up for that.
