Entertaining the walkers on a cold and windy Oriental Bay evening
Review from Gordo, Batucada’s gig co-ordinator:
Everyone had been looking at the evening’s weather forecast of 120km winds and showers turning to rain. But having done a site check on the way back from the Wedding gig it was clear that somehow things just weren’t nearly so wild in Oriental Bay, plus a very sheltered spot at the rotunda had been worked out as a plan B option if the Plan A idea of on-top of the rotunda was too wild. It actually wan’t too bad up there but it was also clear that the sheltered Plan B spot was just great and would actually work better than on top – it elevated us above the walkway but still in really good shelter from the wind and the wave-spray sometimes flying over the path.
The sponsored walkers (walking for Cancer Recovery) could see us and hear us from a good distance away and their happy response as the came by was great – we were obviously giving them a real boost. Definitely a case of mission accomplished and good deed done. As is often the case in Welly if you can find a good possie out of the wind then it’s all good.
